As I am sure you may have already heard, yesterday we had the privilege of having a scientist from the High Touch, High Tech science program come visit our class. High Touch, High Tech is an educational program that visits schools, bringing exciting, hands-on science lessons and activities to the classroom for students to participate in. Our lesson was called "Sea" Ya Later, and it explored and reinforced many of the ocean concepts we have been studying in class. With our instructor "Neutron" Natalie's guidance, we...
*created our very own pytoplankton complete with beads that changed color with energy from the sun.
*performed an experiment to show how phtyoplankton create oxygen for us to breathe.
*dug for ocean fossils.
*created our very own piece of coral.
*got to look at authentic fossils and creatures from the sea!
Our little "scientists" had an incredible time and learned so many things! Be sure to ask your little oceanographer all about it!
Building our phytoplankton:
Using the pipettes and exploring our "ocean water":
